Linux Kernel Daily: Security Hardening, Filesystem Fixes, and New Hardware Support
Today's mainline kernel changes include SELinux policy hardening, XFS and btrfs reliability fixes, faster AES and RAID XOR, and initial Arm RMM support.

Security and hardening
SELinux policy loading and file handling hardened
SELinux now validates policy contexts, role/user bitmaps, MLS ranges, and unknown-class handling at load time, and marks status/policy files immutable to prevent tampering.
Why it matters: Malformed or malicious SELinux policies can no longer trigger crashes, out-of-bounds access, or silent misconfiguration; privileged users cannot corrupt SELinux state files.

Kernel credential slabs and W^X enforcement hardened
The struct cred cache is now SLAB_NO_MERGE to prevent cross-cache attacks, and a bug that disabled W^X violation detection in x86 page table walks is fixed.
Why it matters: Reduces risk of heap attacks against credentials and restores kernel self-hardening against writable+executable mappings.
SMB client hardened against malicious servers
Fixes a remotely triggerable crash on invalid encrypted reads, a credit leak that could starve connections, and multiple out-of-bounds reads in directory parsing.
Why it matters: SMB mounts are safer against buggy or malicious servers and no longer crash or leak kernel memory.

Miscellaneous security fixes
Xen gntdev blocks mprotect upgrades of private grant mappings, arm64 EFI read-only regions are now truly read-only, ASLR entropy is increased on arm64, and crypto state is zeroized after ChaCha20-Poly1305 decryption.
Why it matters: Closes multiple local and firmware-facing security gaps, reduces information disclosure, and strengthens memory protections.

Filesystems and storage
XFS hardens against crafted images and improves online repair
Multiple validation gaps that could lead to out-of-bounds reads/writes from malicious filesystem images are fixed, along with several online scrub/repair correctness issues.
Why it matters: A corrupted or malicious XFS image can no longer crash the kernel or leak memory; xfs_scrub and online repair are safer.

btrfs gets ENOSPC, qgroup, and performance fixes
Fixes ENOSPC during mass block-group deletion, qgroup accounting leaks, degraded RAID56 writes, and use-after-free risks; also makes reflink less disruptive and zstd decompression faster.

SMB client reliability and compression fixes
Fixes silent data corruption with SMB compression, makes reconnects fail fast, reduces unnecessary lease breaks, and adds chattr compression flag support.

Performance and scheduling
perf gains SIMD and extended register sampling
New perf event attributes and x86 support allow sampling vector registers (XMM/YMM/ZMM/OPMASK), APX eGPRs, and CET SSP using XSAVES and arch-PEBS.

Faster AES and RAID XOR with new SIMD implementations
